Joyce Clinton Dulier
(December 21, 1936 - July 2, 2021) - Resident of D'Iberville, MS
Joyce Dulier, our beloved matriarch, was called home to the Lord from a life well lived.
She was the rock that her family was anchored upon, and the central point from which they all radiated. First and foremost in her life was her faith in God, and in Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was kind to all she interacted with, always had time for God's work, and genuinely cared about helping anyone in need in any way she could. She was a lifelong member of Bible-Way Baptist Church in D'Iberville, which was originally founded in her living room. She actively participated as a member in many ways until she was physically no longer able to be so. Even then, the Church was never far from her thoughts. Her life was also dedicated to her family. Hers was always the house where Sunday or holiday dinners took place, and she spent countless hours preparing meals for the entire extended family, never complaining. She loved having her family members together and loved to laugh with and pick at her sisters, her children, her grandchildren, and later her great grandchildren. She had a smile, a laugh, and a sense of humor that was infectious to those around her.
She was ever the old fashioned lady, and never left the house unless she was what she considered presentable (and free of grey hair on her head). There were a great many people outside her family who affectionately called her Mother or Maw-Maw because she filled that role for them, and she considered them all as much a part of her family as her blood relatives. She never met a stranger, believed that only God had the right to judge people, was compassionate to anyone she came across who needed help in some way. She was committed to reading her bible. She loved to discuss the bible, American history, current events, and politics. Up until her last day, she was still the one that her family went to for guidance, to help solve a problem, to get over a sickness, or when some encouragement was needed. And her advice was always to put things in God's hands and keep moving forward. Going for a visit with her was never a chore for her grandchildren because she was such a joy to be around. Aside from her family, she was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She took great pride in being an American and cherished her Southern heritage in particular. She loved greatly and was greatly loved by all who knew her. She will always remain in our hearts.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Ruby Pearl Clinton; her siblings, Harold Clinton, Dot Morgan, Bonnie Morgan, and Peggy Morgan; her daughter, Cheri Furr; her stepson, Eddie Lee Dulier; and her husbands, Herman Broadway and Eddie Dulier.
She is survived by her siblings, Ricky Clinton (Dianne), Carolyn Clark (Hoyt), Alice Thornton, and Hope Morgan (Dave). She is also survived by her children, Debbie Mitchell, Andy Herring, Ray Pearce (Deanna), and Darrel Pearce; her 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to especially thank William Hudson, who has been her companion, caregiver and best friend the last few years. He brought great joy to the last years of her life and truly became a part of our family in the process.
