Joise Elaine Laird, age 89, of Long Beach, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2010, in Long Beach.
Mrs. Laird spent most of her life on the coast. She was a member of Gateway United Methodist Church and was very involved at the church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
Mrs. Laird was preceded in death by her husband, Major James D. Laird; her parents, William and Cora West; and her siblings, Bill, Bob, Benny, and Cliff West, and Margaret Campbell.
She is survived by her two children, Margaret Jo Frazier, of Gulfport; and James Laird and his wife Helen of Mobile; her brother, Donald West and his wife Lois of Long Beach, her sister, Rebecca Hynum of Gulfport; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, at 5:00 PM. Visitation will be from 3:00 PM until service time.
Burial will follow at Coalville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Mississippi Chapter, 196 Charmant Dr. Suite 4, Ridgeland, MS 39157.
Jo's family wants to thank Emily Diamond of Saucier for her kindness, care, and understanding. We so appreciated all of her efforts to enrich mom's life.
