Joseph P. Brown

Joseph P. Brown, age 88, of Long Beach, passed away on May 3, 2022.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert “Bobby” Brown; his mother, Irene Brown; his father, Roscoe Brown; and a brother, Eddie Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joy Skelton Brown; his children, Timothy Brown, and Carolyn Brashears (Jerry); his siblings, Albert Brown (Judy), Mary Watson (Edward), and Eva Sandle; 5 grandchildren, Lindy Lewis (Timothy), Michael Nelson, Timothy Brown, Jr, Jonathan Brashears (Virginia), and Heather Brown; 5 great-grandchildren, Payton Nelson, Carter Nelson, Brodie Darty, Alexander “Lex” Lewis, and an expected great-grandson on the way.

Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal w/Bronze Star.  He later graduated from Northrop University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering.  Mr. Brown retired as an Aeronautical Engineer with Rocketdyne at Stennis Space Center.

He enjoyed fishing, sailing, duck hunting, gardening, boating, good food, and New Beaujolais.

A visitation will be on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 12:30 pm - 2 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Rd., Long Beach.  A funeral service will be at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Interment will be in Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
