Joseph Williams

Joseph Michael Williams, age 48, of Gulfport, departed this life on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in Gulfport after his battle with cancer.
Joey was a lifelong resident of Gulfport, a valued and creative member of the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center for many years, a friend and guide to so many young artists, a loving brother, and a devoted son. The artists of Lynn Meadows Discovery Center recently dedicated the technical booth as "The Joey" in his honor.
Joey is survived by his parents, Florence (Werby) and Robert L. Williams of Gulfport, his sisters, Katherine Holthouser, and her husband Gene, Lynn Weinbergerand her husband Ron, and Michelle Stewart and her husband Beau; loving nieces , Rachel Maurer and Melissa Weinberger; and nephews, Coleton Casano and Royce Weinberger; and lastly great nephew Gregory Maurer.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. "Robby" Williams, Jr; and his grandparents Michael and Mabel Werby and Leon and Jewel Williams.
Joey loved playing music and could play several different instruments. His presence was always felt at every performance at the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center.
Special thanks to Tanya and Rick Hayes, Jason Bell, Ron Werby, and Helen Werby for all their support and love during his last days. He was grateful to you for giving him comfort.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, 246 Dolan Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39507.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport with a visitation for family and friends from 1:00 PM until the service. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
