Joseph Weems

d. August 6, 2021

Long Beach

Joseph Weems, age 77, of Long Beach, peacefully passed away on August 6, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris and Reginald Weems; as well as his younger brother, Mark Weems; and beloved wife, Lois Weems.

Some of his surviving family includes his second brother, Steven (Jackie) Weems; and four nieces, Theresa Weems, Marisa Bernard, Sarah Kallansrud, and Laura Ybarra and their families. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Valerie (Dwayne) Thomas and April (Bryan) Nadeau; and four cherished grandchildren, Tyler, Jake, Lauren, and Dylan.

Joseph Lynton Weems was born in the charming and quaint city of Laurel, Mississippi on April 24th, 1944. He then moved to Long Beach, Mississippi where he worked as a welder for Harrison County and married Lois Ondell Ladner. It was in Long Beach where he would eventually retire and spend the remainder of his life. Joseph was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Church along with his wife Lois who was an especially active member. Early in life, Joseph found a love of working with his hands, a passion that would follow him into retirement with hobbies such as model aviation. Joseph loved nothing more than entertaining his adored grandchildren with little flying machines that would excite and invite curiosity into their minds as they soared across the sky. Joseph was a kind and gentle man and is undoubtedly going to be remembered as so by those who were close to him.

Arrangements for a remembrance ceremony are currently incomplete and undecided by the family.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, Long Beach, is serving the family.
