Joseph Leonard ""Buddy"" Murray, age 79, completed his earthly journey on December 18, 2011, at his family home in Woolmarket. He was surrounded by his family when he left this Earth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard Sr. and Myrtle Ross Murray, son, Charles, daughter, Gloria Jean, and a grandson, Timothy Murray. Buddy was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a ship captain for oil companies around the world. The last eight years of Buddy's life were spent as a volunteer chaplain at the Harrison County Jail. He was loved and respected by the inmates and those he ministered to in all aspects of life.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Dolores Murray, son, Joseph Murray III, daughters, Donna Murray-Reynolds, Laura Murray-Cummings, Tracy Murray-Redmon, 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, a brother, James Murray Sr., sisters, Mary Lee Terry and Jean Seymour, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Buddy requested no service and asked that any donations be given to Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, P.O. Box 184, Long Beach, MS 39560 or one's favorite charity.
A celebration of Buddy's life will be held at a later date.
