Joseph Gautier, "Joe", of Biloxi, MS passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022.
Joe was born in Biloxi, to Horace and Ruby Gautier. Joe grew up on the water; boating, sailing, and fishing were his passions. He graduated from Biloxi High School, University of Southern Mississippi, and the Jackson School of Law. Joe had a law practice in Jackson, MS, and then in Biloxi. Joe also was a defense attorney for the Harrison County Juvenile Court. Joe was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Biloxi.
Joe loved being a father to his three children, Lauren, Luke, and Rachael, and to Bobby, his foster son. Joe especially loved being a "sports dad" and all free time was spent with soccer, baseball, and football, or whatever sport the children wanted to play. Of course, fishing was also very important, and his children also grew up on the water, just as he had. Another thing Joe had in common with his children was a love of the Atlanta Braves and going to a Braves game was one of his greatest joys. Joe was also very proud of his membership in AA, and he was grateful to be a sponsor to any who needed his strength.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Ruby Gautier.
Joe is survived by his children, Lauren (Zachary) Houston, Joseph L. P. "Luke" Gautier, and Rachael (Andrew) Hatten; his sister, Terry (Pat) Gautier-Byrd; five grandchildren, Edward Schultz Ill " Trey", Finnley Schultz, Sullivan Gautier, Frances "Frankie" Gautier, and Stephen Hatten; his ex-wife, Lucienne Gautier; foster son, Robert Hill; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. and the service will be held at 11:00 a.m. As per his wishes, Joe will be cremated, and his ashes scattered on the water he loved so much. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Church of the Redeemer.
