Joseph L. Carey, age 78 and a resident of Poplarville, died on Sunday, May 27, 2007 in Poplarville.
Mr. Carey had been a longtime resident of Tampa, FL and had been a resident of the MS Gulf Coast since 2005. He was a member of the Catholic faith and was an avid pinnacle player.
Mr. Carey was preceded in death by his parents, Norman & Mary Lecuyer Carey; his daughter, Ann Marie Carey and his stepson, Vernon Dale Peterson.
Mr. Carey is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Gloria Carter Carey of Poplarville; his daughters, Dawn Pasquqrell of Cohoes, NY, Debra (Mike) McCormick of Troy, NY and Cathy (John) Ashley of Mountain Grove, MO; his son, Joe (Bonnie) Carey, Jr. of Stephentown, NY; his stepdaughters, Vickie Hariel, Donna Nash and Melissa Waller all of Poplarville, and Tammy Peterson of Perkinston; his stepsons, Kelvin """"Pete"""" Peterson of Poplarville and Randy Peterson of Kiln; his ten grandchildren, Rebecca, Theresa, Robert, Jerry, Tony, Katie, Gracie, Deidre, Tim, and Bethany; and five great grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 2:00pm at the Riemann family's GULF COAST FUNERAL HOME, Kiln Delisle Road Chapel in Pass Christian, where friends may visit 30 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Steep Hollow Baptist Church Building Fund, 2336 Highway 53, Poplarville, MS 39470 or Forest General Hospital Hospice, P.O. Box 16389, Hattiesburg, MS 39404-6389.
