Joseph Buckley

Joseph Earl Buckley, age 89, of Long Beach, passed away on April 6, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bishop and Bertha Buckley; and his brothers, John Buckley and Richard Buckley.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Bettye Buckley; his children, Joseph L. (Babe) Buckley, and Etta Buckley (Cyrus) Clark; 3 grandchildren, William (Élan) Buckley, Rebecca (Matthew) Krauland, and Rachel (Jesse) Rosalia; and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Buckley was a native of D'Lo, MS, lived in Starkville, MS for many years, and later moved to Long Beach, MS. He graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor's Degree in Dairy Production with advanced studies in Forestry from Mississippi State University. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service with over 20 years of service and later served as the president of Country Air Enterprises which owned and operated a number of successful small businesses.
He loved to garden, cook for friends, and do crafts. He and his wife, Bettye, traveled extensively for business and pleasure through the years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Starkville for over 80 years and attended North Long Beach Baptist Church for the last 15 years. He became a master mason in 1953 and later became a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 10, 2017, from 1 - 2 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. A prayer service will be held at 2 pm in the chapel. On Tuesday, April 11, 2017, a visitation will be from 10:30 am - 11 am at the First Baptist Church of Starkville with a funeral service beginning at 11 am. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Starkville.
Some of Mr. Buckley's favorite charities include: The Gideon's International, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, the Shriners Children's Hospitals, or the North Long Beach WMU Missionaries and formed "Busy Hands" assisted by Royal Helpers.
