Joseph J. Bello, age 84 and a resident of Biloxi passed away at home in Biloxi on February 13, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Bello; and his parents, Anthony and Nancy Bello.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy Harney and her husband Bernie of LeCanto, Florida, and Elli Taggart of Biloxi; two sons, Joey Bello and his wife Susie of Westbrook, Maine, and Dennis Corsetti and his wife Kelly of Scarborough, Maine; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 3 expected great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bello was born and raised in Bronx, New York. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, and served in Germany. He retired from the New York State Correctional Facility and moved to Biloxi in 1992. Mr. Bello had a passion for theater, horseracing, and New York Giants Football. He served as a father figure for so many people.
The family would like to give special thanks to Canon Hospice, and to his special caregiver, Denise.
Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, followed by interment in Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canon Hospice Foundation at: Akula Foundation, PO Box 850715, New Orleans, LA 70185.
