Joseph C. Balanovich, Jr, age 65, of Pass Christian, passed away on February 4, 2011 in Ocean Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. Balanovich, Sr and Gladys Balanovich.
He is survived by his wife, Dao Balanovich of Pass Christian; three children, Joseph C. Balanovich, III (Christine), Moran Balanovich, and Diane Balanovich; three grandchildren, Anna, Elizabeth, and Maria; two step children, Laurie Dauchert and Teri Miller; one step grandson, Kyle Schoebel; and one step great grandson, Damian Schoebel.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was the Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, State of Mississippi and Chapter Commander of MOPH 676. He was a member of the DAV, the Elks Lodge # 606, Biloxi. He was the founder and first Fire Chief of the Lakeville, PA Fire Company.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Biloxi National Cemetery.
