MSgt Johnny Miller Harmon, U.S. Air Force, Ret., age 87, of Biloxi, passed away on February 5, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his father, Burl M. Harmon; his mother, Irma Welder; a grandson, Jason Kirchler; and a brother-in-law, Jack Wyatt.
Mr. Harmon is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary F. Harmon; 2 children, Ron Harmon (Pandy) and Terry Baltrym; 3 siblings, Esta Cargill (Bill), Thelma Wyatt, and Robert Harmon (Margaret); 2 grandchildren, Amanda and Ashley; and other relatives and friends.
He was a native of Batesville, Arkansas and was a long time resident of Biloxi. He was a true American Patriot who loved his country. He retired form the U.S. Air Force and civil service with over 41 years of total service. He served during the Korean War and Vietnam War where his duties were aircraft mechanic and flight engineer which took him to duty stations worldwide. During his enlistment, he received many certificates of recognition for suggestions submitted to and implemented by the Air Force.
He was an avid fisherman who spent many happy hours floundering on Cat Island with his son Ron. He also enjoyed gardening and yard work. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Gulfport Masonic Lodge #422 for over 50 years and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.
Mr. Harmon was a devoted husband and father who will be remembered for his winsome smile and for the love he had for his family. He will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank the SAAD’s Hospice staff especially Monique and Anna for the wonderful care they provided to Johnny during our time of need.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 11, 2021, from 12:30 – 1:30 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi. The funeral service will be at 1:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
