Johnnie, 61, has gone home to be with the Lord on July 15, 2011 in Biloxi.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John W. ""Buster"" Oakes; parents, Rev. Robert and Dimple Hill; son, Curtis H. McGee; sisters, Frances White and Willa Peterson; and brother, James ""Bucky"" Hill.
She is survived by her son, Rev. John C. Oakes and wife Jackie, along with their daughter, Jacee; daughter, Lauria Sue Barton and husband Gary; son, Beldon B. LeBouef, Jr.; sisters, Jessie Daughterity and husband Rev. Patrick and Nora Faye Severns and husband Dave; nephew and niece, Norman and Tonya Hawkins, who were thought of as children of her own; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the lead singer of the group ""The Liberty Messengers"" of Liberty Baptist Church, where she was also Secretary. She was a published author and poet. She received many awards for her works in literature. She will be sadly missed by all.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 1:30 pm, with visitation two hours prior, at Liberty Baptist Church, Saucier with Rev. Patrick Daughterity officiating and Steve Bridgan assisting.
Interment will follow at Holiness Free Church of God Cemetery, Three Rivers Road, Gulfport.
