Johnnie Ray Killegrew, age 74, of Long Beach, died Tuesday, July 7, 2008 in Long Beach.
Mr. Killegrew was a native and lifelong resident of the coast and retired after 32 years of service with the Sun Herald. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Johnnie was an excellent story teller and was an excellent handyman that could fix anything. He loved gardening, woodworking, and animals. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved eating, and socializing. Mr. Killegrew was of the Catholic faith
He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Jo Ann Gannon Killegrew, his mother, Frances Dauro Killegrew, his father, John Martin Killegrew, and his daughter-in-law, Phyllis Killegrew.
Survivors include his children, Angela (Marlin, Jr.) Ryland, Kent Killegrew, Kevin (Sherri) Killegrew, Melissa (Les) Handlin, and Melinda Killegrew; caretaker, Patsie Killegrew; 2 sisters, Betty Matthews (Claude) Johnson and Martha Ladnier; 1 brother, Richard Killegrew, and 1 grandson, John Marlin Ryland.
The visitation will be Wednesday from 1 - 2 p at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will be at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
