Mrs. Johnnie Ware Carlson, loving wife, mother and grandmother, of Gulfport, MS
was called home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at the age of 83.
Johnnie was born in Taylorsville, MS, the daughter of Delus Ethel Ware and Nola Ainsworth Ware.
Johnnie graduated from Taylorsville High School and went to work immediately at Western Union in support of the World War II War effort.
After marrying Lt. Roy E. Carlson on Oct 13, 1944, she devoted her energies as a homemaker caring for both her immediate and extended families.
Spirituality was an important and uplifting part of Johnnie's life. She was at peace with the thought of moving on to the next phase of her life with her Lord in Heaven.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Roy E. Carlson and her parents.
She is survived by two sons, a daughter, and their spouses, and two grandchildren, including Richard and Mary Ann Carlson of Fredericksburg, TX; Nora and David Donald of Madison, MS; Matthew and Sherry Carlson of Ocean Springs, MS, and their two sons, Logan and Nathan.
She is also survived by two brothers and five sisters, including Ben Ware, Tom Ware, Frances Dickens, Ruth LaBorde, Hettie Doris Myrick,
Jackie Schaub and Jessie Leake.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 from 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd, Biloxi. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John McCay officiating. Private Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the VFW, the Wounded Warriors Project, Handsboro United Methodist Church in Gulfport or a charity of choice.
