John Francis Vallor, Jr., age 79, of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Vallor; and his brother, Thomas Vallor.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Vallor, together for 61 years and July 10 would have been their 61st anniversary; his children, Tonya (David) Hebert, Donna (Troy) Murray, Thomas (Judy) Vallor, and Joann (Winston) Sullivan; his siblings, Charlie Vallor, Ethel Preston and Cathy Hallam; his grandchildren, Rachelle (David) Pons-Tolk, Austyn (Joey) Ledet, Nicolas Pons, Sean (Hannah) Sullivan, Thomas (Bree) Vallor, Jackie (Whitney) Vallor, Shane (Carson) Sullivan, Michael Hebert and Chad (Kendal) Vallor; and his great-grandchildren, Julianna, Jaiden, Jackson, Gia, Layla, Amara, Sebastian, Laine and soon Claire.
John was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and had been a resident of Ocean Springs. He was a veteran of the United States Navy (Retired, YNC), serving in Vietnam. He received the Navy Achievement Medal (with Combat “V”), Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal with Four Stars, RVN Meritorious Unit Citation, Gallantry Cross, Nation Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, .45 Cal Pistol Marksman and Navy E Ribbon.
John was the owner & operator of VL Logistics, Inc. He was two-time Ocean Springs Rotarian of the Year, prior President of Ocean Springs Chamber, was active in 1699 Historical Committee, Jackson County Chamber, Jackson County Economic Development, and Jackson County United Way.
John was a New Orleans Saints Fan and he enjoyed Ice Hockey, Basketball & Baseball (especially the Boston Red Sox).
John was a loving husband and father and dearly loved by his family. He strived to teach everyone to do the right thing. He loved being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
