John Franklin Tate Sr., age 67, of Gulfport, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in Ocean Springs.
John was born in Great Falls, SC and raised in New Orleans, LA. He served twenty years in the United States Air Force, spending two tours of duty in Vietnam. He earned numerous commendations including the Distinguished Flying Cross.
John retired from Civil Service at Keesler AFB as Housing Inspector / QAE in the Military Housing Dept.
Among his affiliations, John was a 32nd degree Mason, member of Joppa Shriners and Fellowship Lodge 630; a member of the D'Iberville Moose Lodge 332, VFW Post 6731, American Legion Post 33, DAV, and Air Commando Assn.
John was preceded in death by his father and mother Lloyd and Thelma Tate; brother, Edward Tate; and son, James Edward Tate. Survivors include his loving wife, Linda Tate; daughter, Jana Anderman; sons, John Franklin Tate, Jr. and Michael Castelin; brother, Lloyd Tate; grandchildren, Jamie Tate, Jadi Anderman and Samantha Castelin; sister-in-law, Sally Tate and aunt, Joan Dominguez.
The graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2010 at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
