John Downing Quave, Sr., fondly known as Johnny, passed away at his residence in the Latimer Community on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on July 14, 1955, in D'Iberville, Mississippi, Johnny was a beloved figure in his community, cherished for his warmth and generosity.
After graduating from D'Iberville High School in 1973, Johnny dedicated 25 years to the Mississippi Section 8 Housing Authority, where he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of countless individuals and families through affordable housing initiatives. His commitment to public service exemplified his character and his passion for helping others.
Johnny was a multi-talented individual with a diverse range of interests. He had a deep love for music and could often be found playing the guitar. His culinary skills were also noteworthy, as he found joy in cooking for family and friends. Nature was where Johnny truly thrived; whether he was mowing the lawn, spending time at the camp, or enjoying hunting and fishing, he embraced the outdoors with enthusiasm. He was of the Catholic faith.
He is survived by his three sons, John Quave II (Carrol), Nick Quave (Memarie), and Koby Quave (Jocelyn), who will always remember the lessons he imparted and the love he shared. Johnny's legacy continues through his sister, Coleen Guardanapo, and the joy he brought to his two grandchildren, Dosha Quave and John Durrel Quave II, as well as his great-grandchild, Grayson Terry. He leaves behind a wide circle of other loving family members and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
Johnny was preceded in death by his father, John Durrel Quave, his mother, Ann Kathmann Quave, and his sister, Diane Quave. Their collective absence is felt deeply, but Johnny's spirit will remain alive in the lives of those he touched.
