John Edward Overcast III, age 73, passed away on July 16, 2024 in Gulfport.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and a lifelong resident of Biloxi. He was of Catholic faith, attended Our Lady of Fatima School as a child. He graduated Biloxi High School in 1969 and graduated from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 1979 with an Associate degree in Radiology Technology. He joined the United States Army in 1972 and served 6 years on active duty, stationed in Korea and Fort Riley, Kansas. After his military service he returned to Biloxi, finished his associate degree, worked at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport as an x-ray technician until 1980, at which time he moved to New Orleans and entered nuclear med-tech school at Charity Hospital, graduating in 1981. He stayed in New Orleans where he worked at various hospitals, until 2009 returning to the coast.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Edward Overcast, Jr. and Rose Ann Siciliano Overcast; and brothers, Rocco Overcast and Raymond Overcast.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Annette Wildowsky Kendrick; daughter, Michelle Barger of Jacksonville, FL; sister, Tina Nail (Michael); sister-in-law, Claudia Overcast (Raymond, deceased); nephew, Jeremy Nail; and nieces, Angela Overcast of Foley, AL, and Christina Overcast of Wiggins, MS.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 24th 2024 at 11:00 AM, with 30 minutes of visitation prior, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Ave. Biloxi, MS.
