John ""JC"" Mozingo, age 90 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Saturday, July 23, 2011, in Gulfport.
Mr. Mozingo was a resident of Gulfport since 1956 and a member of the Gulf Coast Primitive Baptist Church. He retired in 1984 as a salesman for janitorial and paper supplies on the MS Gulf Coast. He was an avid fisherman and gardner as well as a gifted vocalist, guitarist, and fiddler.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar R. & Lydia Busby Mozingo and his brother, Elder Lonnie R. Mozingo, Sr.
Mr. Mozingo is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Ethelyn Simmons Mozingo of Gulfport; his sons, John C. (Linda) Mozingo, Jr., of Gulfport, Dr. Ron ""Butch"" (Estelle) Mozingo of Hattiesburg, and Dan Mozingo of Gulfport; his brothers, J.P. (Nancy) Mozingo of Gulfport and Roy Mozingo of Petal; his grandchildren, John Calvin (Mary) Mozingo, III, Angela (Chris) Murray, Mandy Mozingo (Steven) Kumpunen, Moriah Denise Mozingo, Kimberly Dawn Mozingo, Tamara Cosby (Nate), and Trent Daniel Mozingo; his great grandchildren, Mary Katherine Mozingo, John Calvin Mozingo, IV, Megan Bernice Murray, Cody Dillan Pettis, Teagan Noelani Cosby, and Piper Keilana Cosby.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at 11:00am at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, where friends may visit from 9:30am until service time. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
