John F. Marshall, age 78 and a resident of Long Beach, died on Saturday, August 8, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mr. Marshall was a native of New Orleans and was a resident of Long Beach for the past 40 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach, MS and attended Holy Family Parish in Pass Christian, MS. Mr. Marshall's professional photography career included; combat photography, NASA photography of Mercury, Saturn, and Apollo, and medical photography which included surgeries and autopsies.
Mr. Marshall is preceded in death by his father, Capt. John F. Marshall, Sr., his infant twin brother, and his grandparents, Charles & Phoebe Marshall and Chris & Josephine Rieder.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Aline Rogers Marshall of Long Beach; his sons, Gary Christopher (Crystal) Marshall of Waveland, MS, Scott Thomas (Suzanne) Marshall of Long Beach, and Randy Joseph (Dr. Kathy) Marshall of Doswell, VA; his mother, Ruth Rieder Marshall of Diamondhead, MS; his sister, Beverly Marshall (Terry) Koehl of Slidell, LA; his grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth, Adrienne, Lauren, Jason, Benjamin, & Jack Marshall and his great-grandson, Jason Marshall.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at the Biloxi National Cemetery, with military honors rendered by the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge, 2609 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121.
