John Malley, 80, of Pass Christian, MS passed from this world to his heavenly home on January 18, 2021, following a losing struggle with mesothelioma. He was a man who loved people, loved to laugh, loved to play golf, and especially loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. Even more, he loved his Savior, Jesus Christ and served Him throughout Ark-LA-Miss churches as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and licensed Baptist minister. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Gulfport.
John was born in Alton, IL, on March 28, 1940, but grew up in Orlando, FL, where he graduated from Boone High School. He was a true Gator fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Malley.
John leaves behind his loving wife, Jo Faught Malley; his daughters, Katharine (Skipper) Samson of Pass Christian, MS, Shannon (George) Schroeder of Franklin, TN, and son, Chris (Shari) Malley of Glen Allen, VA; and his brother, Stephen (Judy) Malley of Lawrenceville, GA. In later years his life was greatly and lovingly enriched by his grandchildren, Caroline, John Corbin, Madeline Samson of Pass Christian and Elizabeth, George William, Christopher Schroeder of Franklin, TN.
John was a career military officer and college professor. He received his B.A. from Michigan State and his PhD from Florida State. He also earned a Master of Divinity degree from Luther Rice Seminary. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends and those people he witnessed to and blessed during his life.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 22, 2021, at New Hope Baptist Church, 17430 Landon Road, Gulfport, at 12:00 noon, with a visitation from 11:00 AM until the service. Dr. Bill Safley and Reverend Matt Sachitano will be officiating. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery.
