John L. Coleman

John Lee Coleman was born in Shreveport, LA on July 29, 1951. He passed away on February 25, 2025 in Gulfport, MS., at the age of 73. In keeping with his wishes, no memorial service will be held. 

John was raised in Gulfport  and graduated from Gulfport East High School. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in marketing. John retired from work as a communications engineer with AT&T. He loved, and was loved by, his wife and sons. He loved games, learning, reading, and writing. As he put it, if his love of TV hadn’t gotten in the way, he would have written the Great American Novel.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle and James Coleman. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Cathy Lovell Coleman, his sons John Joseph Coleman and David Thomas Coleman, his brother Jerry Coleman and sister-in-law Lurleen, niece Stacey and great niece Jillian.

John was a selfless man who put his family above all else. He will be missed tremendously.
