Corporal John M. Gregory, age 89, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
Mr. Gregory moved from Picayune to Biloxi in 1941 and has lived on the coast since. He was drafted into the Army in 1943 and was wounded on April 9, 1945 in Okinawa. He was a Purple Heart recipient.
In 1945 Mr. Gregory became a firefighter with the Keesler AFB Fire Department and he retired in 1987. In 1954 he married Yvonne Murphy.
Mr. Gregory was active in the Boy Scouts and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne, his son, Bruce Gregory and his brother Paul Gregory, Jr.
Survivors include his son, John Scott Gregory; daughter, Dawn Palmer (Mark); four grandchildren, Allison Gregory, Ryan Palmer, Elizabeth Gregory and Aidan Gregory; and four sisters, Grace Stanford, Catherine Sunday, Michel Spanier and Mary Lou Curry.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m., at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. Burial with military honors will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
