John T. "Terry" Gibbs, age 62 of Saucier, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2021 in Moss Point.
Terry was a native of Abilene, TX. He earned a Specialist Degree from University of Southern Mississippi. He was employed at Ocean Springs High School, Mercy Cross High School, and Burras, LA, where he taught business courses and coached.
He was a Vigil Honor member and Order of the Arrow with BSA. He received the Silver Beaver Award, Lay Leader at Heritage UMC, and Barnabus Award.
Terry was a lifetime coach of several sports, a choir member, scout leader, and school bus driver. He was an avid Atlanta Braves, New Orleans Saints, and Dallas Cowboys fan. Terry was also involved with the Boy Scouts of America and a member of Heritage United Methodist Church and Cedar Lake United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Bettye L. Gibbs; his sister, Linda Naquin; and his father-in-law, Stirman L. Williamson.
Terry is survived by his wife of 11 years, Cindy Gibbs; his children, Adam Gibbs (Elizabeth), Janyce Gibbs Layman, and Tim Gibbs (Nicki); his grandchildren, Kahli Grace Gibbs, Kinzie Faith Gibbs, Jon Austin Layman, and Braden Jace Layman; his nephew, Nicky Gibbs Williams; his brother-in-law, Robert Naquin; and his mother-in-law, Barbara Williamson.
The family would like to thank Jennifer and the staff at Southern Care Hospice and Mrs. Shelia Little and the staff at Singing River Health and Rehabilitation Center in Moss Point.
Donations can be made to Cedar Lake United Methodist Church's building fund or Heritage United Methodist Church's building fund in honor of Terry.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Cedar Lake United Methodist Church, with a visitation from 9:30 AM until the service. Interment will follow at Poplarhead United Methodist Church Cemetery, at 1:30 PM.
