John Falke

January 15, 1936 — March 18, 2021

Biloxi

Captain John Falke (Jack) passed peacefully to the Lord on March 18, 2021
at the age of 85.

Jack was born on January 15, 1936 in Scranton, PA to Byrne and Marie Falke. He spent much of his youth in Texas and Pennsylvania, but the greatest impact on his young life came from his many years at Girard College in Philadelphia, PA.

Captain Falke enjoyed a 29-year career as a Navy Seabee. He enlisted in 1953, at the age of 17 as an electronic technician in the Korean War. After graduating from Michigan Technical University (1961) with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, he served as a Naval Officer in the Civil Engineer Corps. During his time at Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 4, as Charlie Company Commander, in Port Hueneme, CA, he deployed twice to Vietnam. From there he was stationed with the Marines in Camp Lejeune, NC for six years. After receiving his M.S. degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida in 1976, he went on to serve as the Executive Officer, then Commanding Officer of Naval Construction Training Center, Gulfport, MS. From there he moved on to Naval Station Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico and then to the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA where he was promoted to Captain. Following this he was transferred to the Navy Inspector General office in Washington, D.C. and then retired in Alexandria, VA at the Defense Logistics Agency in 1991.

During his naval career, Captain Falke was awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with Valor, Navy Achievement Medal with Valor, the Navy Combat Action Ribbon, and other campaign and unit awards.

While his Navy career was a considerable accomplishment, Jack was most proud of the nine children he and Emeline raised, and the family they built together. He was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years, Emeline, their 9 children; Anne Falke (Diane Duratti), Sharon Falke (Ruffin Moore), Judy Mueller (Roger), Jeanne Quesenberry (Jay), Daniel Falke (Lori), Brian Falke (Diana), Deborah Clark (Thomas), Suzanne Carlile (Timothy), Patricia Falke, and fifteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jack and his wife, Emeline, were members of the St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sebastian, FL. They recently moved to Biloxi, MS and are members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Woolmarket. They enjoyed golfing, hosting family gatherings, and spent much of their time together traveling the world and visiting their family.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 24 at 12:30 pm at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Woolmarket, MS. Viewing will proceed the service at 12:00 noon, also at St. Mary's. Jack will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
