John Thomas Eaton, age 72 of Gulfport, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022.
He was a native of Urbana, IL. He enlisted in the US Air Force and retired as a Tech Sgt. after 24 years. While in the Air Force, he served as a Maintenance Security Technician for 10 years, as an Airlift Maintenance Technician for 10 years, and attended many classes.
John was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Diana Grice Eaton; his father, Clarence “Bud” Eaton; his mother, Phyllis “Allison” Eaton; and his brother, Scott Eaton.
He is survived by his children, Angelic Eaton Romero, and Athena Eaton Wyrich, both of Long Beach, MS; his brother, Jack Eaton (Sylvia Castillo Eaton) of Paxton, IL; his 19 grandchildren; and his 30 great grandchildren.
He received multiple medals and honors while serving, such as AF Commendation Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award w/1 device, AF Good Conduct Medal w/5 devices, AF Training Ribbon, AF Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon w/1 Device, AF Longevity Service Ribbon w/4 devices, and the President’s List.
John enjoyed flea markets, watch wrestling and westerns, fishing, reading, and most of all loved seeing and spending time with family and loved ones.
There are special people in our lives that we never lose, even after they are gone.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM, Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM in the funeral home chapel, followed by interment at Biloxi National Cemetery.
