CMSGT John E. Dibbs, USAF, Retired, , age 84, of Biloxi, passed away on February 11, 2008 in Biloxi.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret A. Dibbs; his parents, John and Ester Dibbs; two brothers, Howard Dibbs and George Dibbs; and two sisters, Ann Dibbs and June Tomlanovich.
Mr. Dibbs is survived by two daughters, Linda G. Bertran and her husband, Andre, and Karen L. Brashier, and her husband, Robert (Bobby); five grandchildren, Michelle Cain, Alisha Bertran, Brandon Brashier, Bass Brashier, and Abbie Brashier; and two great-grandchildren, Timothy Cain and Chase Cain, all of Biloxi; one sister, Mary Arndt, of Eagle River, WI; three nieces and five nephews.
A native of Eagle River, WI, he graduated from Eagle River High School in 1941 and was a graduate of the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
A longtime resident of Biloxi, Mr. Dibbs was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Biloxi, the VFW, American Legion and the South MS Seniors Golf Association. He worked as a volunteer at the Biloxi VA Medical Center.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a CMSGT after 23 years of service and served in World War II and the Korean War. In 1985, he retired from the U.S. Naval Home as an operating engineer.
He was a blessing to his family and will be greatly missed.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Rd., Biloxi, where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors.
