John Atwood

John Charles Atwood, age 60, of Gulfport, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Atwood and Kathleen McManus Atwood.

John is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Cynthia Atwood; children, Daniel Atwood and Theresa Atwood; sister, Colleen M. Hughes; niece, Destiny M. Gonzalez (Angel); and nephew, Glen P. Hughes.

John worked in construction most of his life and had his own construction business. He loved antique, classic, and hot rod vehicles. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and loved the outdoors. John was also a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan.

He was a loving father and a devoted husband. We are thankful for the many years shared with him. We will all cherish the wonderful memories of love and laughter he shared with us all.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A private service was held December 15, 2022.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, served the family.
