John J. Altier, age 73, of Pass Christian, MS, passed away on November 15, 2010 in Gulfport.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Isabelle Altier; and a sister, Marie Altier.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Louise N. Altier of Pass Christian; three children, Bernard F. Donlin and his wife, Mary, Susan N. Donlin, and James P. Donlin and his wife, Rhonda, all of Pass Christian; six brothers, Edward Altier and his wife, Mary Lou, Eugene Altier and his wife, Pat, Jim Altier and his wife, Sally, Bill Altier, Rog Altier and his wife, Judy, and Ray Altier and his wife, Elaine, all of St. Paul, MN; a sister, Katherine Howe and her husband, Earl, of St. Paul, MN; six grandchildren, Bernie Donlin, Rodney Cuevas, Tehra Garriga, Amanda Donlin, Jodi Donlin, and Jimmy 'Jeb' Donlin; one great grandchild, Jonathan Gage Garriga; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a Roman Catholic Priest for ten years when he served as Vocation Director, Dean of Students, and finally Rector at St. Henry's Seminary in Bellville, IL. A former employee of the Social Security Administration, he was an instructor at Our Lady Academy, Bay St, Louis, where he taught Latin and Religion for seven years. He owned a personal tax preparation business for thirty years.
His second home was in Sioux Lookout where he spent thirty two summers. He was a wonderful inspiration to his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Holy Family Parish where family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until service time.
