Joanne Riser, age 66, resident of Long Beach, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Riser was born in Alexandria, LA and attended Louisiana Tech University. While in school, she married and led her to raise her family, as she and her husband followed his occupation across the country. Later, she went back to school at MS Gulf Coast Community College, earning her Associate's Degree in Nursing in 1984. She then worked at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport until her retirement in 1995. Mrs. Riser enjoyed traveling to the Smoky Mountains with her family, reading, gardening, painting, cooking, and other arts/crafts. She was deeply loved, respected, and admired by her family, and will be remembered as a true """"lady.""""
She is preceded in death by her father, Joseph A. Kolb; daughter, Jennifer Lynne Riser; and son, Timothy Andrew Riser.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Billy Riser of Long Beach; mother, Melba Kolb of Lake Charles, LA; children, William J. Riser and his wife Sondra D. of Biloxi, David Riser of Gulfport, and Melinda Riser of Long Beach; brother, Tommy Kolb of Lake Charles, LA; two grandchildren, Richard Joseph Riser of Long Beach and Brittany Lynne Riser of Biloxi; and four beloved felines, KeeKee, Bandit, Baby Cakes, and Katy.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 1:00 p.m. at Long Beach City Cemetery.
