Joan Schepens, 64, of Long Beach, died Friday, January 12, 2007 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Schepens was a native of Magnolia, MS and had been a resident of the coast since 1959. Since 1972, Mrs. Schepens has worked side-by-side with her husband, Henry, Sr. at Commercial Electric and then H.A.S. Electric Service. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and she enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandchildren and other children in the neighborhood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde William and Velma Earsel Jones and a sister, Betty Ruth Jones.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Schepens, Sr., Long Beach; her 5 children, Henry Schepens, Jr., McComb, MS, Clyde Schepens, Theresa (Norman) Redo, Cynthia (Jim) Cox, all of Long Beach and Ben (Stacey) Schepens, Atlanta, GA; 10 brothers and sisters: Charles Jones, Dorothy Dunnaway, Lelia Hamilton, Dwight Jones, Mickey Jones, Wanda Martin, Faye Lizana, William """"Squeeky"""" Jones, Angie Newman, and David Jones; 7 grandchildren: Alex Schepens, Ryan Schepens, Dominick Redo, Jamie Cox, Sarah Cox, Todd Schepens, and Christy Schepens; 4 great-grandchildren: Kalay Garrett, Lexie Backston, Ashton Schepens, and Andrew Schepens.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Monday, January 15, 2007 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Long Beach. Friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
