Joan M. Miller went to be with Jesus at 4:10 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at her daughter's home in Gulfport.
She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Russell E. Miller (Russ), Major, USAF retired, of Gulfport; daughter, Dawn A. McCollister of Gulfport, her nurse for some time; son, Kris K, Miller and his wife, Teresa of North Carolina; son, Russell G. Miller and wife, Tonia and family of Texas; and Tracy Miller of Petal, MS; and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joan was very active as a USAF wife and very important to her husband's career. She was very active in AARP and the International Lions Clubs and the Wiggins Lions Club. She was also very active in the Picayune Evening Lions Club where she served as President for three years including the present year. She was recently presented the President Award in recognition of Outstanding Club Leadership, Devoted Service and Vision. She also served as district officer for several years and club secretary for several years.
Mrs. Miller worked for several years as a demonstrator at the Gulport SAMs Club and recently received an award as person of the year and received many loving comments from fellow workers.
Joan was also very active in many Christian organizations over the years and was a member of the Lighthouse Full Gospel Fellowship on Dedeaux Road.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. from the Lighthouse Full Gospel Fellowship at 12161 Dedeaux Road, Gulfport, where friends may call after 6:00 p.m.
