Joan E. Dyess, age 87, of Saucier, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 19, 2010.
Joan was married in Australia in 1945 as a war bride and she and her husband moved to the USA in 1946. Their marriage survived all diversities and they engaged a long marriage of 65 years. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Olivet Baptist Church for 40 years. Mrs. Dyess was involved in the Boy Scouts, working in the nursery and youth programs at the church. She was a stay-at-home mom who nutured her three children and every place she went she made people smile and laugh.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers, a son, Tommy Dyess, and a great-grandson, Eli Britt.
Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Dyess, Sr., her children, Margaret E. (Ronald) Sharpless, Robert E. ""Sonny"" (Janet Giuffria) Dyess, Jr., her grandchildren, Kelli (Carl) Britt, Scott Sullivan, Stephanie (Chris) Stewart, Brandy (Mike) Peek, Jason Dyess, Duane (Rachel) Dyess, Danielle (Derek) Ladner, and Sandy (Brittany) Dyess, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 4-6 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 11 am Thursday at Olivet Baptist Church, Klein Road, Gulfport.
Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
