Joan Annette Jobe Dillard died in her home in Flowery Branch, Georgia on Sunday, September 26, 2010. Joan had moved from Gulfport, Mississippi after Katrina in August of 2005. She was born on December 6th, 1933 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the daughter of Alvin and Viola Hasshaw Jobe. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 4, 2010 at 10 AM at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport, Mississippi. Brother David Bowen of Klein Road Church of God will conduct the services.
Joan is survived by her two daughters: Laurie Dillard Turan of Vancleave, Mississippi and Cheryl Dillard of Pass Christian, Mississippi; her two sons, Darryl Dillard of Gulfport, Mississippi and Brandon Dillard of Flowery Branch, Georgia.; her two sisters, Vera Meza of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Viola Swanson of Washington State. She has 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Erwin Dillard, Sr,; her son, George Erwin Dillard, Jr; her sisters, Camile Damare, Leotha Deidrich, and Gertrude Gonzales of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Joan retired from Harrison County School system. She was very active in Klein Road Church of God while living in Mississippi. Joan loved gardening, birdwatching, and sharing time with friends and Meeko (her special friend).
