Joan Marie Vogle Blackwell, age 66, of Biloxi, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011.
She retired from the Sun Herald as a Photon Operator after 25 years of service and was a faithful member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Joan loved to read Catholic literature and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tobe Vogle, mother, Vanita Vogle, a sister, Judy Dearman, a brother, James Perry Vogle, and her grandmother, Ruby Saucier Freeman.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Alton Blackwell, Sr., her children, Alton (Brandie) Blackwell, Jr., and Lisa Kathleen (Michael Scott) Daley, 8 grandchildren, Adam Blackwell, Haley Blackwell, Jaimie Helmly, Alex Daley, Christopher Daley, Ricky Daley, Zac Daley, and Eli Daley, and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, December 23, 2011, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Long Beach. Visitation will be from 9 - 10 am at the church.
Interment will be in Allen Cemetery.
