JoAnn Humphries

JoAnn Humphries, age 83, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, in Biloxi, Mississippi. Born on May 22, 1941, Jo Ann attended school in Forest County, where she was voted “Ms. Forest County Agricultural High School.”

JoAnn dedicated over 20 years to serving on the Biloxi Planning Commission, contributing significantly to the community. She was the proud owner of Jo Ann’s Uniform and Specialty Shop in Biloxi for four years. A vibrant member of the Gulf Coast Carnival Association, Jo Ann was honored as the Queen of Krewe Athena in the 1980s.

Her professional career spanned over 45 years at BancorpSouth, where she rose to the position of Vice President before retiring in 2006. In her retirement, Jo Ann found joy in gardening and traveling.

A devoted member of Beauvoir United Methodist Church, Jo Ann’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, John F. Humphries; parents, Henry Eugene Reus and Ruth Elizabeth Meyers Barr; step-mother, Roberta Reus; one brother, H.E. Reus; two sisters, Joyce O’Neal and Jean Sumrall.

She is survived by her daughter Robin Goings (Sidney) of Biloxi; son, Kelly Humphries of Biloxi; grandchildren, Jason Humphries (Jessica), Christy Windecker, Wendy Humphries (Brian Anseman), Jeremy Goings (Alyssa), Meghan Lundine (Robbie), Kaitlyn Hayes (Blake), Kelly Wayne Humphries; great grandchildren, Bailee Hood (Ricky), Caleb Windecker, Tyler Grantham, Bentley Humphries, Gavin Humphries, Blair Lundine, Hollis Lundine, Bradley Goings, John Christian Goings, Taytum Hayes; and many nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 4th at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Rd. Biloxi, MS. Friends may visit from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the funeral home chapel, where refreshments will also be available.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to caregivers April and Tina, and Traditions Hospice nurses Shane and Courtney.
