Jimmy New a native of Hazard, Kentucky and longtime resident of Biloxi, MS passed away on May 28, 2022 in Gulfport, MS at the age of 67.

Christopher Reed, Ernie New (Hope) and Robin Harris; his grandchildren, John Mitchell, Rieley Mitchell, Connor New, and Megan Darta; his siblings, Lee New (Terry), Ron New (Kathy), Kolly New (Nancy) and Linda; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Jim had a long career with the Norfolk Southern (ConRail) railroad.  He worked 45 years on the track department mainly as a heavy machine operator and log truck driver.  He retired in 2017 and enjoyed, riding his Harley motorcycle, working on cars, going to the casino and watching the old western movies he had always been fond of.

Jim always had a smile on his face.  He was well liked by all who knew him, whether it be family, friends or strangers.  He was always willing and the first to help others in need in anyway he could.  He enjoyed talking and telling his “ole tales” and was known to wear his “Downunder” hat at all times.  He will be sadly missed by all.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Allison Wall, and her medical team and staff at Memorial Hospital Oncology unit for their excellent and compassionate care.
