James Robert """"Jimmy"""" Bourdin, 58, of Pass Christian, died Sunday, July 1, 2007 in Houston, TX after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mr Bourdin was born February 7, 1949 in Gulfport.
Jimmy recently retired with 25 years of service from DuPont. He had many close friends from DuPont who stayed by his side during his battle with cancer.
He loved the outdoors and spending time with his faithful dog """"Tazzie"""". He was an avid fisherman and also loved gardening, bird watching, and grilling. He never met a stranger, was open and friendly, and well liked by everyone.
Jimmy loved to cook and entertain family and friends at Mardi Gras in the Pass and at his fishing camp in Ansley. The family loved his down home cooking of crawfish, crabs, and jambalaya. You name and he could cook it! Even during his lengthy illness, he had a great comradery with the nursing staff who thought the world of him at M.D. Anderson Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Hazel Bourdin and a brother, Edward """"Dusty"""" Bourdin.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Erickson Bourdin, Pass Christian, 2 sisters, Betsy Ashman and husband Lee, Waveland, and Jean Hauer, Long Beach, sister-in-law, Dorothy Bourdin, Gulfport, beloved mother-in-law, Gerry Erickson, and 2 brothers-in-law, Ed Erickson and Ron Erickson and wife Stacy, all of Minnesota.
A Memorial Service will be held 4 pm Friday, July 6, 2007 at the RIEMANN FAMILY'S Gulf Coast Funeral Home, Three Rivers Road Chapel, Gulfport. Friends may visit from 3 - 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the HSSM, 2615 Hwy 49, Gulfport, MS 39501, or the American Cancer Society, 417 Security Square, Gulfport, MS 39507.
