Jill King, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Washington Center. Jill was born on May 22, 1941, in Richland, MS and was the daughter of the late John Alden and Eula (Cox) Bumstead.

After high school, Jill earned a bachelor’s degree in education, from the University of Southern Mississippi. She enjoyed a long teaching career at the Junior High School in the Boyet Central School District, Slidell, LA teaching remedial reading and math.

Jill thrived in her serene farm life and loved tending to her pigs and ducks, as well as cooking, gardening, and creating beautiful pieces in needlepoint. During retirement, she enjoyed going to casinos, reading, and caring for her adorable cats.

Jill is survived by her daughter, Laure (David) Bicknell; her stepchildren, Evangelist (E.W.) King, Vivian Hitt, and Dianne Rosenberg; her grandchildren, Harrison Bicknell IV and Alexandra Bicknell; her step-grandchildren, Robin, Jason Kristine, and Cooper; her great-nieces and nephews, Sharla Foster, Alisa Tyler, William Tyler, and Philip Tyler; and her dear friends who took care of her, Glendora, Ginny, and Joanne.

In addition to her parents, Jill was preceded in death by her husband, Evangelist W. King in 1999 and her brother, Philip Cox Stringer.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023, at 6:00pm, at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY.

The burial will be held privately in Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport, MS, under the direction of Riemann Family Funeral Home, Gulfport, MS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA, 53 Maple Ave, Schenectady, NY 12302.
