Mrs. Jessica Asher, age 89, and a resident of Mobile, AL, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 in Mobile.
Mrs. Asher was born in New Orleans, LA on November 6, 1920, and is going home to be with her Lord Jesus. She was briefly a resident of Gordon Oaks Health Care, Mobile, AL but had been living in Mobile for 8 years. After her husband retired from the Navy the family moved to Biloxi and spent the majority of their life there.
Mrs. Asher was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Asher; her father and mother, Frank and Catherine Allen; her sisters, Rose Dubreiul and Mae Casse; and grandson, Paul Christian Chiniche.
She is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie Frasier and husband Thomas of Dubach, LA, and Maureen Chiniche and husband Wesley of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Jacob Bratton and wife Kayla, Karen Smith and husband Heath, Andrew Chiniche, Stephanie Morgan and husband Thomas, and Daniel Chiniche; great grandchildren, T.J. Bratton, Jacey Bratton, Ethan Bratton, Dylan Smith, Landry Smith, Alex Morgan, and Eric Morgan.
Though Mrs. Asher grew up during the Depression under harsh conditions, she was a hard working lady who with her husband molded a comfortable life for their family. She was a devoted member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and was actively involved there until her health forced her to move to Mobile, closer to family. She enjoyed gardening, travel, quilting, reading and volunteering for Braille transcription of the Bible.
The family would like to thank the staff of Gordon Oaks for their kind and respectful care of Mrs. Asher. Also they would like to thank the staff of Hearthstone Assisted Living for the years of comfortable life she enjoyed while there.
Funeral services for Mrs. Asher will be held at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Biloxi, MS at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2010 with visitation one hour prior to the service. She will be interred next to her husband at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Gulfport.
