Reverend Jessee Lane Ladner, 69, passed away April 1, 2021, at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport Mississippi due to COVID related complications. Brother Jessee, Uncle, or Papa, as he was affectionately called, was born July 11, 1951, in the Standard-Dedeaux Community of Hancock County, the son of the late Vert Jefferson Ladner and Bernettie Perkins Ladner.
He worked in steel fabrication as a welder and painter for most of his adult life at several different companies, until he retired from Berry Enterprises in Stone County. He surrendered to the ministry and was ordained as a minister of God's word in 2001. He pastored Persimmon Hill Baptist Church until the day he left this earth for his heavenly home. Papa Jessee loved to fish and hunt and he was a member of the Wolf Creek Hunt Club. He enjoyed judging and attending field trials at various places. Papa Jessee had a plethora of hunting buddies whom he loved and enjoyed spending time with. He had many elaborate hunting stories that he so often shared. Not only did he love to share hunting stories, he loved to share the story of Jesus Christ and the plan of salvation. He officiated countless weddings over the years, many of which were family members. He loved to tell a good joke, pull a harmless prank, and always tease the children. Papa Jessee was a man who was loved, respected, and looked up to by his family. He was, at times, stubborn but he had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off his back if anyone needed it. He was soft and kind, yet stern when needed. He will be missed by so many. However, the sadness felt by his family and loved ones is relieved by the knowledge of his eternal salvation, knowing he met Jesus, and the thought of the awesome family reunion that occurred when he entered the pearly gates of heaven.

Jessee Ladner was preceded in death by his parents, Vert Jefferson Ladner and Bernettie Perkins Ladner; his wife of 46 years and mother of his children, Eileen Bounds Ladner; an infant son, Joshua Vert Ladner; two brothers, Ulman Ladner and Austin Leo Ladner; three sisters, Lorena Cuevas, Matilta Head, and Melba Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 2 years, Mary Helen Peterson Rester; his children, Jeremy Ladner and wife Karen of Carriere, Sarah Ratcliffe and husband Jay of Kiln, and Jason Ladner of Kiln; his grandchildren, Summer Flowers Harrell and husband Will of Grove Hill, AL, Nathan Ladner and wife Amber of Pass Christian, Nicodemus Ratcliffe and wife Shyanne of Kiln, Jayden Ratcliffe, Elijah Ratcliffe, and Adrienne Ladner; his great grandchildren, Kaybri Ladner, Kazlie Ladner, Kateley Ladner, Jakob Harrell, Kris Harrell, and Sawyer Harrell; his sister, Yvonne Ladner Beech of Kiln; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family, all whom loved him very much.

Reverend Jessee wished to be cremated and his ashes to be buried next to his wife and son in Wolf Creek Cemetery. A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. The date and time will be announced by the family once plans are finalized.
RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln Delisle Rd., Pass Christian, MS served the family.
