Jerry Dwayne """"Snapper"""" Walters, age 64, of Saucier, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2010.
Mr. Walters retired after 36 years from Struthers Industry in Gulfport. He was of the Baptist faith and was a Mason.
He loved music and fishing. He could play his piano and bass guitar and was always singing. He had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. Snapper was full of life and loved everyone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Onyx and Azaline Walters; his sister, Gaye Mathis; his daughter, Pattie Lynn Walters; and a grandchild, Matthew Bubba Garcia.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gracie Walters; 3 sons, Jerry Dwayne Walters, Jr. of Vancleave, Jason Walters and wife Melinda of Saucier, and Jeffrey Walters of Gulfport; 2 daughters, Nissa Klinegardner and husband Mike of Saucier, and Peggy Garcia and husband Matt of Lyman; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Helen Henry of Laurel, Edwina Long and husband Leo of Laurel and Betty Blackledge and husband Charles of Gulfport; and 2 brothers, James """"Sonny"""" Walters and wife Jean of Long Beach and Larry Walters and wife Ilene of Meridian.
The family would like to express their special thanks to Memorie, Sara and Beverly with Canon Hospice.
Friends may visit the Walters family from 4 until 5 p.m., Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport. The Memorial Service will follow at 5 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
