Jerry Shankle

Jerry Carl Shankle Sr., born December 29, 1941, in Weona, AR, age 79 and a resident of Gulfport, MS, died on Sunday, September 12, 2021, in his home surrounded by family.  He was the original owner and operator of the former Teddy Bear’s Carpet Cleaning Company in Gulfport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warner and Pearl Shankle; his sister, Imagene Shankle; his half-sister, Gladys Cowans and half-brother, Frank Cowans; his twin sister, Judy Shankle; his great-grandson Gavin McDaniel of Saucer, MS; his loving wife of 53 years, Delores Louise Shankle; and his son, Jerry Carl Shankle Jr.

Mr. Shankle is survived by his caring wife, Kathryn M. Shankle; his sons, Joseph Warner Shankle Sr. of Angier, NC and Jason A. Shankle (Angela) of Mobile, AL; his daughter-in-law Terry Shankle of Labadieville, LA; his step-children James Welch (Wendy) of Carriere, MS, Denise Garriga (James) of Pascagoula, MS and Dewey Welch (Stacy) of Terrytown, LA; his grandchildren Shawn Madere, Tressa Gros, Dewayne Brouillette, Jr., Brittany McDaniel, Blake Shankle, Joseph Shankle Jr., Celena Shankle, Jacob Shankle, and 4 greatgrandchildren; his step-grandchildren Ashley Poole, Katie Cooley, Heidi Welch, Christian Welch, Landon Welch, Ryan Dixon, and 3 step-greatgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 17, 2021, at Reimann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvior Rd., Biloxi, MS at 11am.  Visitation of friends and family begins at 10am.  Burial will be held at 1:30pm at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
