Jerry Pierre Pere

Jerry Pierre Peré, born November 22, 1943, passed away February 24, 2023, at the age of 79.

He is survived by his children, Christopher (Rebecca), Jeffrey, Jenelle, and Kenneth (Whitley); and 7 grandchildren, Beau, Trevor, Maelle, Aleigha, Angelle, and Jacques, with Karsyn on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emile and Nettie Peré of New Orleans; and his grandson, Joseph Caleb Peré. 

Most knew him as a strong-willed, stubborn, impatient, and sarcastic man, but he was also kind, compassionate, funny, and proud. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and bragged about them to anyone who would listen. He loved his dog, his independence, riding his bike, and ice cream. He hated vegetables, checking his glucose, and the cold weather. In his younger years, he enjoyed attending rock concerts, automobiles, visiting the Audubon Zoo, yard work, and swimming. He loved being a Southern man and found great pride in his Cajun roots. Always adorned in gold necklaces, bracelets, and rings, he was as serious about his jewelry as he was his mustache, and he always wore his shoes from the time he woke up until he went to sleep. 

A service will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church, 1050 Robert Blvd., Slidell, LA, 70458 on Friday March 3, 2023. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at 12:00 p.m., followed immediately by a reception at a family home in Slidell. A burial will take place at a later time at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Thibodeaux, LA.
