Jerrilyn Lea McInnis-Mortis, a cherished soul whose warmth and spirit touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully at her home in, Florida, on September 24, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on August 17, 1977, in Compton, California, Jerrilyn's journey led her through various paths, ultimately shaping her into the remarkable woman remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.

A dedicated executive administrative assistant at Ingalls Shipbuilding, Jerrilyn exemplified professionalism and hard work. Her commitment to her career was unwavering, and her colleagues admired her for her efficiency and the kindness she brought to the workplace. Jerrilyn’s education began at Dominguez High School in Los Angeles, California, and culminated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources from American Continental University. Her accomplishments were a testament to her intelligence and determination.

Jerrilyn was not only accomplished professionally but also took immense pride in her role as a loving wife and mother. She was the devoted spouse of 23 years, Kelton L. Mortis, who serves proudly as a Naval Officer. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. The joy of family was paramount to Jerrilyn, and her son, Terrell (Roxie) Ray Jr., along with her beloved granddaughters, Sarai Ray and Avayah Ray, all of Ennis, TX, held a special place in her heart. She found pure happiness in their smiles and cherished moments spent together.

Jerrilyn also leaves behind her loving parents, Ruthie M. Casey of Gulfport, MS and Jerry L. (Kathy) McInnis of Waxahachie, TX, who guided her throughout her life with unwavering support and affection. She shared a strong bond with her brothers, Adrian D. (DeVida) McInnis of Dallas, TX and Tramell L. (LaTisha) McInnis ofPerris, CA, who were always there with love and camaraderie, creating lasting memories that would be treasured forever.

Jerrilyn was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jordan Lea Mortis, and her sister, Erish C. McInnis. Their absence leaves a heartache that will never fully heal but serves as a reminder of the love that continues to bind their family together.

Visitation will be held on at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvior Road, Biloxi, MS, on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the time of services at 12:00/Noon. She will be laid to rest with her daughter Jordan at Biloxi National Cemetery immediately following.

In this time of sorrow, we reflect on Jerrilyn's genuine nature and her capacity to nurture those around her. Though she has left this world, her journey continues in the hearts of those she touched. Jerrilyn Lea McInnis-Mortis, you will be missed dearly, but your legacy of love and warmth will live on in the lives of your family and all who knew you.
