It is with a heavy heart that the family of Jerome Jules Perniciaro announces his passing on Sunday, February 16, 2025.
Jerome passed away peacefully at home, with his devoted wife, Geraldine Schmit Perniciaro, and his three daughters, Cheryl Davidson (Brian), Jan Morel, Camille Perniciaro (Larry).
Jerome worked in construction laying floors for King and Company, he and his wife owned Jerome’s Car Wash in Arabi and New Orleans, (or as my dad would say "a chain of car washes"). He and Gerry (Slim) were married 71 years. After raising their daughters, they went on many trips with friends all over the United States, Canada and Europe. Then settled in Diamondhead, MS to retire with those same friends. Dad’s retirement didn’t last long, he started working at the golf course getting the carts ready for the day. His love for golf and people came together when we started throwing the annual Jerome Open. What started out as a few friends playing golf with a BBQ to follow soon turned into a full-blown course closing tournament.
In addition to his wife and daughters he is survived by his grandchildren, Jerome Davidson, Kayla Hart (Brandt); bonus grandchildren, Gary and Melissa Whitehouse, Gene Morel, AJ, Brock and Collin Frabbiele; great grandchildren, Audrey Davidson, Cruz Hart, Bonus Greats, Parker and Camden Hart, Drake Morel, Lillian and Weston Whitehouse, Stevie Rose, Willow, Iris, Shelby, Nolan, Riley, Aislinn Frabbiele; and sister, Anna Perniciaro Kerr.
For those who were blessed to have him cross your life you know, he never met a stranger, he always had something to say that would make you laugh or cringe, he would give you the shirt off his back, he lived and enjoyed life to the fullest. From putting ladders out at 3:00 in the morning to save the spot on St. Charles for Mardi Gras or lining the lawn with Railroad flare for midnight on New Year’s Eve. Everyone was always welcome, and it was always a party. In his final months he would always say how blessed he was, it was us who were blessed to have him as husband, dad, Poppa, brother and friend.
