Jeneane Vierling Self, age 84, of Saucier, MS, passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2019.
She was born February 27, 1935, at Kings Daughters Hospital in Gulfport, MS, to Benton and Veldine Vierling. As the second of five children, she was raised in Gulfport and graduated from Gulfport High School in 1953.
Jeneane worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company for 15 years. She then served as Administrative Assistant for Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Gulfport for 18 years. In addition, she served as the Nursery Coordinator, taught pre-school age children, and was an active member of the choir. She leaves behind a legacy of trust and love for God. She enjoyed her bird feeders, working in her yard and sharing her faith. Her greatest joy was in being with and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Douglas Self; her parents; her brother, Charles Vierling; her brother-in-law, George Cooke; and her nephew, Charles Vierling II.
Jeneane is survived by her children, Kathy Parker and husband Joel of Lucas, TX, Jon Self and wife Jennifer of Fairview, TX, Sioux Sunbear of Gulfport, and Renee Elvenhart of Biloxi; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, along with their spouses, June Cooke of Warner Robins, GA, Joan and Byron Brewer of Saucier, Jim and Beth Vierling of Gulfport, and Jean Bookout of Gulfport; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Grace Memorial Baptist Church, Gulfport, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
