Jeffrey Screws

Jeffrey Screws, age 67, of Saucier, passed away at Memorial Hospital Gulfport on Sunday, November 20, 2022, due from complications following a heart attack.

Jeff was born on March 11, 1955, in Trieste, Italy to John T., Sr. and Virginia Holliday Screws, a military family. Jeff was a retired jeweler and loved fast cars and boats.  His nephew, Cliff Horne, said it best the night Jeff passed, “My uncle, Jeff Screws, has gone to be with his parents tonight.  To say he was one of a kind might be the biggest understatement ever made.  To know him was to love him, while suppressing the urge to choke him at the same time.  He never met a stranger and could out-talk even me, hands down.  He lived his life to the fullest and refused to apologize for it, even when he should have.  He had his faults, as we all do, but his heart was pure gold.  Rest in Peace.”

He was preceded in death by his father, John Thomas Screws, Sr.; his mother, Annie Virginia Ray; and his sister, Justina "Tina" Screws Horne.

He is survived by his brother, John Thomas Screws, Jr.; sister, Janis Fae Crouse; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and a big fan club.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, where friends may visit from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 3:00 pm, where friends may visit two hours prior, at Concord Baptist Church in Yazoo City. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concord Baptist Church, 610 Concord Church Road, Yazoo City, MS 39194.
