Jeanette Culpepper Simmons

Jeanette Culpepper Simmons, age 85 of Pass Christian, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, James “Teddy” Culpepper and Odis Simmons; her father, George Albert Prevost, Sr.; her mother, Menia M. Ruspoli; her brother, George Albert Prevost, Jr.; her daughter, Debbie Mott; and her granddaughter, Nikki Pavolini. 

Jeanette is survived by her children, Carolyn (Fred) Edwards and Susan (Kenny) Bailey; her siblings, Doris (Harry) Sharp, Mona Morgan, and Georgia Shippey; her grandchildren, Jeremy (Tina) Sexton, Jessica Lewis, Ryan Edward, Chase (Melinda) Edwards, Bobby (Hayley) Travis, Cody (Elizabeth) Travis, Farren (Dustin) Knowles, Brooke Bailey, Taylor Bailey, and Mandi Mott; 23 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and goddaughters, Peggy Cuevas Mitchell and Candice Pavolini.

Jeanette was born and raised in Pass Christian, MS. She worked at the garment factory from high school, 1970-1971, when her and husband, Teddy opened Culpepper’s Grocery until retiring in 1985. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading, crocheting, attending church, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Church of Christ, Bay St. Louis, MS and dedicated resources to support St. Jude Childrens Hospital.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, beginning at 11:00 AM with service immediately following at 12:00 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Rd. Long Beach, MS 39560. Interment will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery.
